This book was originally published prior to 1923, and represents a reproduction of an important historical work, maintaining the same format as the original work. While some publishers have opted to apply OCR (optical character recognition) technology to the process, we believe this leads to sub-optimal results (frequent typographical errors, strange characters and confusing formatting) and does not adequately preserve the historical character of the original artifact. We believe this work is culturally important in its original archival form. While we strive to adequately clean and digitally enhance the original work, there are occasionally instances where imperfections such as blurred or missing pages, poor pictures or errant marks may have been introduced due to either the quality of the original work or the scanning process itself. Despite these occasional imperfections, we have brought it back into print as part of our ongoing global book preservation commitment, providing customers with access to the best possible historical reprints. We appreciate your understanding of these occasional imperfections, and sincerely hope you enjoy seeing the book in a format as close as possible to that intended by the original publisher.

Sun Hunting Kenneth L Roberts Books

Kenneth L. Roberts was certainly in the infancy of his writing career as a professional. Written in 1922, this book deals with the Florida land boom and the people who participated in it. It goes into great detail about the folks who leave the snowy north and end up in the sunny south and become sun seekers. These folks become a society within a society. Much of their self worth is based on how much money they spend each day and not what they spend it on. How many times a day a woman changes clothes becomes a status symbol. The number of man powered wheel chairs you contract for and can park in front of stores with attendants waiting becomes a status symbol. And then there are the tin canners of the 1920's which evolve into the Winnebago traveling across the Badlands in the 1950's. The Florida land boom which ultimately ends up in the Great Land Bust is discussed in detail. Land worth then 50 cents an acre is sold for 50 cents a running foot. Something has to give and it does.

This book is much like an archeological dig into the advent of the roaring 20's which ended in the Great Depression. The books humor and pace are much like Robert's book on Trending Into Maine. But it doesn't compare to Trending nor comes close to his fine works such as Arundel, Rabble In Arms and Lydia Bailey. Read it at your own risk. It's less than 200 pages and set in big type.
